On  Sunday's show about the rapture, in the scripture verse, The dead in Christ will rise first,  it sounds like when believers die they do not go to heaven. If they did, why will they be raised at the rapture??

Thank you for your question! We understand how that could be confusing. Yes, when a believer dies they will go to heaven right away. 2 Corinthians 5:8 says, “To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord” and the Bible seems consistent on this point. When you die, you die without a break in consciousness. You slip from this life into the next. When the Bible talks about death as “sleep” it is not because our soul sleeps, it’s because our body sleeps. And the body sleeps until the day of resurrection when Jesus Christ speaks the word and we will be resurrected.
